SooZe Yoga offers different disciplines and levels of Hatha Yoga, ranging from modified/easy classes for beginners, to more challenge for those with previous yoga experience.  

More dynamic class options include: Body Blend, Essential Pilates, Tai Chi for Arthritis. 

Class size limited to a maximum of 20 to ensure your safety and optimal benefit in a lovely tranquil setting. Teachers are available to offer individual adjustment and advice appropriate to your level of practice. 

    

 

  Tai Chi for Arthritis - with Wanda McFadyen

Practiced in China for Centuries to Promote Health and Well Being

Based on Sun Style Tai Chi learn 12 fluid gentle movements in a relaxed, slow tempo. Easily practiced by people with arthritis – sitting, standing or a combination of both. Safe, effective to relieve pain, reduce stiffness, improve quality of life. Easy to learn movements build strength, stamina, flexibility and improve mobility.  Best practiced in bare feet but clean, indoor shoes may be worn if required. Appropriate for all ages, levels of physical fitness and ability. 

Benefits Include: Improves Balance and Posture, emphasizes the importance of weight transference, helps balance to prevent falls. Maintains Flexibility and Strength, helps to reduce stiffness. Reduces Pain, builds muscle strength to support and protect joints. Decreases Stress, promotes relaxation, improves concentration.

Tone & Trim

This resistance based class combines the principles of STOTT Pilates and fitness training.  It will blend the strengthening and mobilization of the entire body with primary focus on the core (abs & spine) and lower body (butts & legs).  The class will incorporate your own body weight as resistance as well as small equipment such as bands and balls.  It will build overall body strength as well as balance, agility and flexibility.  Suitable for all fitness levels.

  Essential Pilates - with Wanda McFadyen

Recommended for those who are new to Pilates or for those who want wish to work at beginner level.  Participants will experience the full repertoire of essential mat exercises.  STOTT Pilates is a contemporary, anatomically-based approach to Joseph Pilates’ original exercise method which delivers optimal strength, flexibility and endurance without adding bulk.  This stress-relieving method can be performed on a mat or using dedicated STOTT PILATES equipment.   This class is a beginner level, progressive class which will teach you the fundamentals of STOTT Pilates. Suitable for all fitness levels - Everyone is Welcome!

Body Blend - with Lori Orchard

Body Blend is a non-purist approach to traditional forms of training and fitness, combining Pilates and fitness conditioning.  This vigorous workout increases strength, balance and flexibility, plus addresses stamina and focus of the mind.  The class incorporates the use of small equipment such as balls, bosu, bands and so much more in two weekly time slots.   

STOTT Pilates Reformer - with Lori Orchard

                   

STOTT Pilates Reformer - specially designed, highly versatile Pilates equipment which will strengthen spinal muscles and give you a full body muscular challenge.  Adaptable to any body challenge or restriction.  Appropriate for ALL.

Facilitates many Pilates exercise variations: seated, standing, kneeling, or lying down

No impact, easy on joints

Glides forward /backward on rollers, uses springs for resistance

Allows three-dimensional movement and conditioning  

Allows modifications for those with active injury or limited mobility

Facilitates balance, strength, flexibility, muscle and core conditioning, peripheral mobility

Suitable for ALL

Chair Yoga - with Sue Williams

Chair Yoga is a gentle, fun, supported approach to a yoga practice which is specifically modified for people facing physical challenges, chronic pain or who experience limited mobility. 

Chair Yoga is suitable for people of all ages who may be recovering from illness or surgery or for those who use a wheelchair, walker or cane.  A perfect class for seniors or for those with body challenges who would enjoy a good stretch while gaining  flexibility, strength and a release of tension.  

Accessible parking is available plus elevator access to the second floor yoga studio location.

Not Just for Seniors - Everyone is Welcome!  

No Prior Registration Required.  A Special Class Fee = A Great Deal!

Easy Beginner Yoga - with Sue Williams

A great place to start!  A beginner level practice, appropriate for people who are new to yoga or for those who would enjoy an easy, slow paced class.  This class is an upbeat, fun but gentle introduction to basic yoga poses along with alignment principles to ensure a safe practice.  This class will help you to gradually develop flexibility, strength and stamina while releasing tension and stress.  Suitable for all ages, levels of fitness or physical ability.  Modifications are provided to those with body challenges.   Everyone is welcome.  Appropriate for all ages, level of fitness or physical ability.  

Yoga & Body Rolling - with Tangi Bell

Working with different sized inflatable balls, Yoga and Body Rolling principles, along with focused awareness of the breath, this practice creates space and balance, resulting in healthier movement and greater structural integrity in our bodies.

Yoga & Body Rolling helps us to gain an understanding of our anatomy and to learn to listen to our body’s innate intelligence. Once we develop greater awareness of our internal state, our bodies respond more freely and effectively.  We can enjoy a conscious sense of well being that starts in our physical practice and extends into our daily lives.

Yoga & Body Rolling  is a wonderful program suitable for ALL.  It deepens a yoga or meditation practice, can improve sport disciplines of any type, removes physical tension and emotional stress, plus creates positive, healthier changes to any lifestyle.  

Each class will focus on a particular body area and finish with a back routine and guided relaxation – Savasana. 

Week 1 - feet   

Week 2 – knees and ankles  

Week 3 – hips

Week 4 – sidelines

Week 5 – back body

Week 6 – shoulders

Week 7 – hands and wrists

Week 8 – front body

Week 9 + 10 – full body routine and/or attention to specific problem areas

Body Rolling Benefits:

Reeducates muscle into optimal alignment, helps to fully release potential 

Releases negative holding patterns or restrictions, relieves pain and tension

Helps to develop and correct posture, increases range of motion and flexibility

Develops and improves body consciousness 

Feel free to attend one class as a drop-in or register for a complete session of Yoga & Body Rolling classes. Bring along someone you know who is interested or is currently feeling body restriction or challenge in a particular area.  Body Rolling is for Everyone... amateur or professional athletes, yoga enthusiasts, meditators, or couch potatoes can all benefit from Body Rolling.      

Private classes or private team or group sessions, even birthday party classes can be arranged.

Beginner Plus Yoga -  with Sue Williams or Gillian Grodzik

Still a  beginner level, this class is faster paced offering more options than the Easy Beginner class.  A great introduction to yoga for those who are relatively fit but are new to yoga or for those with basic yoga knowledge and skills who would like to ease more challenge to their practice. 

Classic yoga poses along with alignment principles will be taught with options for a deeper practice. Appropriate modification provided for those with less experience or with limited flexibility.

This class offers an invigorating stretch for tight or restricted areas of the body plus a release of tension and stress.

Yoga Sun Salutations -  with Sue Williams

Beginner Plus

Unwind, de-stress with an active class focusing on the classical Sun Salutation or Surya Namaskara.  Greet the Sun and begin your day with an invigorating series of yoga postures which flow through a natural sequence, linked with breath. 

Surya Namaskara is a classical vinyasa series, designed to wake up and energize the entire body.  Best for those with previous yoga experience.  

Feel free to stay afterwards for a cup of tea and conversation.  The kettle will be ON!

Traditionally Surya Namaskara ~ Sun Salutations, are practiced at dawn in a series of 12 repetitions with each repetition consisting of 12 distinct postures or Asanas.  Sun Salutations are a perfect microcosm of a complete Yoga practice - including almost all the elements of a complete practice: the linking of breath and movement, forward bending, back bends, strength work, and a mild inversion.   

 

 

Active Yoga - More Challenge - with Sue Williams

 For those who would enjoy an invigorating, challenging yoga practice to build strength, flexibility, stamina and muscle tone through aligned movement, mindful awareness and expansion of breath. Get pumped and have fun!

This class option is specifically designed for those with previous yoga experience who would enjoy a deeper, faster paced class.  Explore your potential, feel bright and powerful on all levels while challenging yourself in a deeper experience of yoga.
