Tai Chi for Arthritis Program

 Based on Sun Style Tai Chi – fluid gentle movements, relaxed and slow in tempo.

Easily practiced by people with arthritis – sitting, standing or a combination of both.

Safe, effective to relieve pain, reduce stiffness and improve quality of life.

Easy to learn movements to build strength, stamina, flexibility and improve mobility

Tai Chi for Arthritis Benefits:

- Promotes Balance and Posture, emphasizes the importance of weight transference, helps balance and prevents falls.

·        Maintains Flexibility and Strength – helps to reduce stiffness.

·        Reduces Pain – builds muscle strength to support and protect joints.

·        Decreases Stress – promotes relaxation, improves concentration.

 Appropriate for All Levels of Fitness and Physical Ability

 Lynn Collicutt, a Yoga Teacher, is also trained in Tai Chi for Arthritis.  Having rheumatoid arthritis, Lynn appreciates Tai Chi for Arthritis for its gentle strengthening and relaxing qualities.  Lynn also incorporates aspects of breathing and posture, important to her as a yoga teacher.   "After each session, I feel stretched, relaxed, connected and grounded."

An Initiative to Enable Disadvantaged Springfield Teens to Attend an 8-Week Yoga Session 

Ages 13 - 18

For those who would not usually have the means or opportunity to attend class

 Interested??  Apply NOW ~ Spots in Class are Limited!

To Apply: Submit Your Application By Mail, Email, or In Person

Include name, age, address, phone number, email address.

Include a 200-word paper describing why you would like to attend yoga.

OR create artwork including a theme relevant to the practice of yoga.

Make a commitment to attend class - select your choice of any class, any time slot.

Parental Permission is Required.

Apply Right Away!  Spots in Class are Currently Available

Yoga is Eligible for Grade 11 and Grade 12 Physical Education Credit

A Draw Will Be Made From Eligible Applications
